Most piercings are pierced with jewelry that has a longer length or a larger diameter to account for swelling as the piercing is healing. Depending on the piercing, you can come back about 6 - 8 weeks after being pierced to be fitted for a smaller piece if the swelling has gone down.
Not downsizing in time can result in piercings healing at a different angle than they were pierced at, so we recommend checking back in after about a month to see how things are healing.
We offer a discount on the downsizing jewelry if you were pierced with us. To have a piercer help you out, there will be a $20 downsizing fee, and an additional $5 for any other piercings that also need to be changed out.
Piercings with studs are done with threadless flatback labrets; this means the front piece of jewelry will pull apart from the post, no unscrewing necessary. Piercings done with rings are either done with fixed or captive bead rings. The bead will either come out or be fixed to one side of the ring, and then the ring will need to be twisted to remove from a piercing.
